Ceredigion Council - dicsuss Dyffryn Teifi school site with local people

In response to the fact that Ceredigion Council has put the Dyffryn Teifi school site up for auction, Cymdeithas yr Iaith has called on Ceredigion Council to take the site off the market and to discuss with the local community.

Bethan Williams, Dyfed area officer for Cymdeithas yr Iaith said:
"Ceredigion County Council's Cabinet will meet on 6th September; we call on them in that meeting to take the site off the market and discuss openly with local residents. Ideas have been raised by individuals on social media already, why doesn't the Council listen and discuss?"

Cymdeithas has also drawn attention to the fact that the Welsh Government has designated Dyffryn Teifi a Local Growth Zone.

Bethan Williams added:
"Despite Dyffryn Teifi being a Local Growth Zone, we've seen banks closing, the town library is under threat of closure, and the community now runs the the swimming pool. Why doesn't Carwyn Jones step in, and use Government and European resources in order to invest in the Teifi Valley?"
