Representatives from the Farmer's Union of Wales and 10 other village schools as well as Cynwyl Gaeo's Councillor have pledged their support for the fight to save Ysgol Mynyddcerrig. They will deliver the message of support at a Protest Meeting outside County Hall at 9.30am -Wednesday 12th of July in advance of a meeting of the full Council.

All responses to the Council's Consultation paper over the future of ysgol Mynyddcerrig must be sent in ahead of a meeting of the Executive Board on July 10th. The Board intend to take a decision on the future of the school at their next meeting a fortnight later on the 24th of July without referring the matter to the Full Council.Cymdeithas yr Iaith's Carmarthen Chair Sioned Elin (whose own children attend nearby Ysgol Bancffosfelen) said, "The purpose of the protest meeting will be to demand that the Full Council shows enough interest in the future of the village and it's children to discuss the matter fully itself. It is disgraceful that Council officers have rushed into try to close Ysgol Mynyddcerrig a few months in advance of the proposed discussion of Primary Education in the whole area. It is even more disgraceful that they have given the parents, governors and people of Mynyddcerrig only a month to respond to a travesty of a consultation document which rubbishes every other option except selling off the school and bussing the children out.She concluded, "We must not allow the Council to treat the education of our children and the future of our communities with such contempt. We must all stand up for Mynyddcerrig, because they are making a stand for all of us."
