Officials in a Welsh language heartland have been criticised for granting planning applications from Welsh speakers despite advice to reject them.The Council was supported by the Welsh Language Society.

This morning (11/01/07) members of the Gwynedd-Mon region of Cymdeithas yr Iaith picketed First Minister Rhodri Morgan, who was visiting Caernarfon, in order to underline the need for a comprehensive langauge act.

"A staff member at Carmarthen's Focus Store yesterday 08/01/08 stated that the Welsh language is a foreign language and that he was offended when somebody asked him if he spoke Welsh. Cymdeithas yr Iaith believe that these ignorant comments highlight the lack of training offered by large companies to staff members on Wales and the Welsh language.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) appeal to all campaigners for the future of village schools to come to the protest in Caernarfon before the defining meeting of Gwynedd County Council at 12 o'clock this Thursday (13/12/07).

Members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith will be protesting outside County Hall, Carmarthen tomorrow morning (Monday 10/12)at 9.30am in solidarity with the community of Llanarthne in their fight to save their school.Once again the County Council have shown their determination to rush throughtheir agenda as quickly as possible without consideration for the opinions andneeds of the community.

At 2.30pm Saturday December 8th, members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg held a demonstration outside the Morrison Chainstore in Bangor. This was the last in a seris of three demonstrations Cymdeithas yr iaith Gymraeg have held against the company over the last few weeks. Earlier demonstrations were held in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth.

At 11 o' clock this morning a deputation from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg met the Heritage Minister Rhodri Glyn Thomas in Cardiff to discuss the Welsh Assembly Government's plans for introducing legislation concerning the Welsh language.

Cymdeithas yr iaith have slammed Eatonfield Group - Housing Development Company for getting up to the 'tricks of their trade' in Pont-Tyweli, Llandysul. The company plans to build 50 houses in the small village of Pont-Tyweli, withpermission granted to build 31 of the houses 16 years ago.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Inspectors will visit Morrisons store Carmarthen on Saturday 24/11/07 at 1pm to undertake an inspection of the premises as regards to the use of the Welsh language. Cymdeithas representatives met with Chris Blundell a member of the Executive Board of Morrisons dyddidadd to discuss and press for equal status for the Welsh language.
