Even though 250 people attended a Welsh language Demonstartion organised by Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg at Bangor on Saturday - which led to an £80 on the spot fine for three activists, Stiwart Edwards, Bethan Williams and Gwenno Teifi - the Culture Minister Alun Pugh still refuses to meet a delegation from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg to discuss the need for a New Welsh Language Act.

About 250 Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg members targeted the Morrisons store in Bangor today at the end of their demonstration calling for a New Welsh Language Act. The demonstration started by the town clock at 2pm after which the protesters marched to the Morrisons Store in Upper Bangor.After arriving at the store, the 250 strong protesting group staged a sit-in at the entrance of the Morrisons store. Gwenno Teifi, Stiwart Edwards and Bethan Williams were arrested for placing posters on the shop windows, explaining to customers why the protest had taken place.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has attacked Tony Blair's asertion today that minorities in Britain have a 'duty' to integrate. Dafydd Morgan Lewis said on behalf of the Society:"This is a bare faced cheek when one considers that the English themselves are the worst people in the world at intigrating and accepting other people's cultures.

At 12.30 today members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg presented a draft Welsh language measure to the political parties in the National Assembly. The event was co-sponsored by Plaid Cymru, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats, and representatives of these parties addressed the meeting.

On Wednesday the 29th of November Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg will present a draft Welsh language measure to the political parties in Cardiff Bay.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith has reacted with a promise of direct action to the decision of Ceredigion Council's Executive Board to publish all reports and documents on their website in English with a note "reluctantly" admitting that they will only be translated to Welsh as resources allow.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have challenged Carmarthenshire County Council's Chief Executive, Mark James to come clean on whether he misled campaigners as he tried to explain away the fact that the council's executive board had not even bothered to discuss the future of ysgol mynyddcerrig school at their meeting on the 20th of September.

At 12.30pm today (Saturday 14/10), around a 100 members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) marched to the new ‘Ystwyth Retail Park’ site in Aberystwyth, in order to hold a Protest Rally.
