=It has become clear over the last week that the threat to village schools is not confined to Carmarthenshire, and that it is now become a national problem. School closure threats are now also affecting Anglesey and Gwynedd. Because the emergency has now escalated to be a Wales wide problem Cymdeithas yr Iaith are calling upon the Assemebly Government for leadership on the matter and are calling on them to take national measures to safeguard village schools and the village community life dependent on them.
Ffred Ffransis, Cymdeithas yr Iaith spokesperson on education said:"We call upon the Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones and the Education Minister, Jane Hutt to give urgent consideration to Cymdeithas yr Iaith's recent request for a meeting to discuss the planed school closures. It has come clear over the last week that this is a national problem now so there needs to be a national response on the matter by the Assembly Government."
