50 Members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith and the Carmarthenshire Primary Schools' Forum blockaded 3 Carmarthenshire County Education Officers into a Community Car Park outside Ysgol Mynyddcerrig last night (Thursday 08/06/06) following the statutory Consultation Meetings with parents and governors about the threatened school's future.

The official meetings ended at 7.15pm and, on leaving the building, the Council Officers refused to discuss the Council’s Strategy for Mass Closures with members of Cymdeithas and worried parents from other schools who had come to support Mynydd Cerrig.As a result, their car was blockaded in the car park for 60 minutes until parents decided that it was time to give priority to taking their children home to bed.The protesters vowed to return in increased numbers to County Hall to demonstrate on July 12th when the Education Officers are due to place the results of the consultation before the Executive Board.
