Cymdeithas and 'save village schools' campaingers will hold two vigils as the National Assembly debates a motion put forward by the Lib Dems on the future of village schools (Tuesday 8/11/05).
In a letter to the Education Minister, Cymdeithas has urged Jane Davidson to intervene and ensure that Carmarthenshire County Council's MEP will be sent out for county wide consultation on the basic principles of centralising education.Cymdeithas has also asked Jane Davidson to demand that Carmarthenshire County Council undertake Impact Studies on the Envirnoment, Transport, Community life and the Welsh Language should the MEP be implemented. It is totally irresponsible on the Council's behalf to implement the Strategy in some areas without considering any of these basic issues.A vigil will be held outside the National Assembly by Carmarthenshire Primary Schools Forum members (Tuesday 8/11/05 until following morning) to keep up the pressure on Assembly members.Cymdeithas members will also hold a vigil outside County Hall, Carmarthen (Tuesday 8/11/05 from 4.30p.m - 8p.m.) as part of our on-going campaign to ensure that the Council holds county-wide consultation on the MEP.
