Among the speakers were Griff Lynch, lead singer of the Ods, Pat Morgan member of the break-through rock band Datblygu and the music manager Rhys Mwyn.  A number of commentators have raised questions about the amount of political messages in modernWelsh music and its impact on the campaign for the Welsh language. 

 

Speaking from Crymych, Iolo Selyf James, Cymdeithas yrIaith Gymraeg's entertainment officer, who is also a member of rock group 'Y Ffug' commented: "As a society we have  already support the Welsh music scene for decades, but maybe there is a way of strengthening the relationship even further. It's right for people to ask: where's the next generation of genuinely revolutionary bands like Anhrefn, y Cyrff and Datblygu? Where is the fury and the belief that songs can deliver real change for us in Wales? I enjoyed hearing the opinion and experiences of some of the innovators the protest singing scene, and their interpretation of the current situation." 

 

The music commentator Rhys Mwyn added: "From David R Edwards to Marc Roberts (Cyrff / Catatonia), from Stevens to Jarman, Huw Jones, Dafydd Iwan who can argue that the best Welsh language pop songs are not the political ones. Since Y Blew in 1967 Welsh rock artists have been a lot more than 'musicians'. If it was just about music, the words wouldn't matter
