Council set to ignore local opinion on housing development

bawd_deddf_eiddo.jpgCarmarthenshire County Council Planning Officers are to recommend that thePlanning Committee (meeting at 10.30am Thursday 30/8 at County Hall) approve an application for 52 new houses in the village of Porthyrhyd thus doubling the size of the village.

This is despite the fact that the local Community Council (Llanddarog) have objected together with dozens of others and a packed Public Meeting resulted in unanimous opposition. It is obvious that such a massive increase will not be to satisfy local demand and will have a substantial negative effect on a Welsh-speaking community.Cymdeithas organiser in South West Wales, Angharad Clwyd, said:"It seems that the Council have really grasped the concept of joined-up thinking. The Education and Planning Officers now seem to be working on a concerted strategy to destroy our Welsh-speaking village communities."Report Carmarthenshire County Website
