Cymdeithas yr Iaith have declared themselves not impressed with the latest climb-down by Thomas Cook, and have vowed to continue with plans for a demo outside the Travel Company's Bangor shop at 1pm on Friday.
Cymdeithas Vice-Chair of Communications Hedd Gwynfor said:"Cymdeithas yr Iaith are not impressed by Thomas Cook's latest climb-down and patronising statement that they will not punish staff for speaking Welsh, merely ask them not to. The Company are obviously seeking to avoid prosecution under the Race Realations Act, and it is disgusting that the government's Welsh Language Board have called this 'a positive step forward'.""We shall be pressing ahead now with plans for a demonstration at 1pm on Friday outside their Bangor shop with the purpose of persuading the public not to do business with this company. That will have a far greater effect on Thomas Cook than a cup of tea with the Welsh Language Board. Ultimately, the only answer is of course a New Welsh Language Act."
