Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has announced that it is a partner in one of Wales' newest and most exciting festivals in Carmarthen next weekend. Gwyl Macs Festival will be held on Saturday 1/9 and Sunday 2/9 on the Showground in Nant y Ci near Carmarthen.The thousands that are expected to attend the festival for a day or to stay for the weekend will have access to 5 stages and many activities such as skateboarding exhibitions. On the Main stage, Welsh bands such as Geraint Jarman, Genod Droog and Swci Boscawen will join Plan B on the Saturday and Meic Stevens, Radio Luxembourg and Zabrinski (in their last ever gig) will join the Magic Numbers on the Sunday.Cymdeithas yr Iaith will be running the Welsh language acoustic stage, that will feature two dozen Welsh language acts during the two days. The timetable for the Saturday will include Gai Toms, Fflur Dafydd, Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, Gwibdaith Hen Fran, Mattoidz, Gwyneth Glyn and Brigyn and the list for the Sunday will include Genod Droog, Supergene, Derwyddon Doctor Gonzo, Mr Huw and Pwsi Meri Mew.Cymdeithas yr Iaith Chairperson, Hywel Griffiths, explained:"Events like this can have a strong bearing on the perception of young people of their own community as an exciting place to live.
