Enough is Enough - Carmarthenshire Council

Cadwn Ein Hysgolion.JPGCymdeithas yr Iaith has called for a protest ahead of a meeting of Carmarthenshire Council's Education Ccrutiny committee to show that people in the county have had enough of the Council's negative attitude towards Welsh-medium village schools and communities. The Education Scrutiny Committee will meet at 10am on Monday the 8th of November at the Chamber & Ante Room, 3 Spilman Street, Carmarthen, to receive a report that will be recommending that discussions should begin over the future of many Welsh village schools, including many that have not been on the hit-list before.Sioned Elin, Cymdeithas yr Iaith Chair in Carmarthenshire said:"It appears that Carmarthenshire County Council is now determined to get rid of all of our Welsh-medium village schools. There could be whole rural areas with no schools except for some centralised Area School. We must decide now whether there will be a future for our Welsh-speaking rural communities or are we going to accept Carmarthenshire County Council's bureaucratic solution to centralize everything."
