Gorkys Zygotic Mynci frontman, Euros Childs, will be performing at the Barons in Swansea on Tuesday 8th August as part of a week full of fantastic gigs, which are part of the National Eisteddfod’s fringe activities.
Euros started his exciting career in music as the frontman and main songwriter in the weird and wonderful Gorkys Zygotic Mynci in the early nineties and tasted great success from an early age. Sadly, the band split recently after many years together, which saw them release 10 albums.Fortunately, Euros, who was the main composer and frontman of the band has been busy developing his solo career. He was signed by Wichita record label in the autumn of 2005 and duly released his first solo album, Chomps, in January. Since then he has been busy touring the UK and Europe promoting the album, which has received rave reviews. This will be Childs’ first visit to Swansea as a solo artist, but he always drew big crowds when performing in the area with the Gorky’s. He will be supported at Barons by 4 up-and-coming bands, including Pembrokeshire favourites, Mattoidz, in a packed night of entertainment. The line-up will also include funk outfit Pwsi Meri Mew, rock/alternative band Plant Duw and hip-hop group Kenavo in what will be an exciting mixture of musical style. The fringe gigs will be held throughout the Eisteddfod week (August 5th-12th) at Barons in the city centre and the Glamorgan Arms in Pontlliw. Tickets can be bought before hand from Ty Tawe, the Glamorgan Arms or by phoning 01970 624 501.
