Cymdeithas yr Iaith has made a last minute plea to the leader of Gwynedd County Council to withdraw the threat to dozens of Welsh medium schools, ahead of a crucial meeting today of the Council’s Education Scrutiny Committee. In a message overnight to the leader of the Council, Cymdeithas demanded that the whole plan be put on hold to enable a countywide discussion about the future of our village schools.Cymdeithas yr Iaith Education spokesperson, Ffred Ffransis said:“The draft plan has certainly concentrated minds. Now let the Council have the good grace not to press ahead with their plan, but to allow an urgent county wide consultation so that the new plan can be drawn up based on the support of the people.”People that are worried about the future of Welsh-medium village schools in Gwynedd are being urged by Cymdeithas to meet at Gwynedd Council's Arfon Area Office, Penrallt, in Caernarfon at 1pm today (Thursday, 25/10) before the Education Scrutiny Committee meet to discuss the plans.
