This morning 75 representatives from 12 schools together with Merched y Wawr and the FUW came to the County Hall Carmarthen to give messages of support to Mynyddcerrig School's fight for its future. Each representative brought a stone from their own area to build a mound of stones in front of the County Hall as a further contribution to the consultation process on the school's future.
The Chair of Carmarthenshire County Council, Mr Roy Llywelyn, told protesters beforehand that this is an issue that should be discussed by the full Council; but at present the Council Cabinet are determined to take the decision by themselves at their meeting in early September, at the end of the consultation process which has been extended to August 11th.At the end of this morning's protest it was agreed to:1. Hold a meeting on the field of the National Eisteddfod on Friday August 11th, the day the consultation process is due to end.2. To hold a protest meeting again in Carmarthen when the Cabinet is to meet in September to make their final decision on the future of Mynyddcerrig school.
