Announcing details of their political events and gigs during the National Eisteddfod this year, Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) have appealed to festival-goers to ensure that Wrexham town centre benefits from the festival.On the Eisteddfod field, the language group will organising events on a 'revolutionary train' theme includig: launching a campaign for banks to offer online services in Welsh with local MP Susan Elan Jones, holding a discussion about the future of Welsh language communities with AM Llyr Huws Gruffydd, launching its plans for 50th anniversary of the society, and organising a rally over the future of S4C with Jill Evans MEP.Their train theme will continue at the Central Station club in Wrexham town centre, from Sunday night onwards, with performances from artists which emphasise their political campaigns including Meic Stevens, Bryn Fôn and his Band, René Griffiths, Lleuwen Steffan, Bob Delyn and Geraint Løvgreen as well as local group Mother of Six.Encouraging people to go into Wrexham town centre during the Eisteddfod, Bethan Williams, Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg said:"Our gigs are based in the town centre so that local people can have a better chance to enjoy the week. We must as national movements try to do more to include local communities in the festival. The Eisteddfod offers a special opportunity to promote the language locally. Organising our events this year, we have been delighted to be able to work alongside our members and local groups."We will also be holding our Annual General Meeting in Wrexham town centre in October.
