At 10am today, members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith visited County Hall, Carmarthen, to present a summons to four leading councillors and officers of Carmarthenshire County Council. Mark James (Chief Exec Officer), Vernon Morgan (Director of Education), Meryl Gravell (Council Leader) and Martin Morris (Deputy Leader) have been summoned to appear before the Court of Community Rights in session at 12.00 Monday 28th May at the Council’s unit on the field of the Urdd Eisteddfod.
The summons charges the four defendants with FRAUD concerning the consultation process over the fate of Welsh Village Schools in the county. The summons was executed on Thursday morning by Sergeant Swyn Dafydd , who is two-and-three-quarters and owns a policewoman’s outfit, of Cylch Meithrin Bancffosfelen.Sergeant Dafydd hopes to attend next Autumn Ysgol Bancffosfelen which is also on the Council’s hit-list of schools. Outside County Hall Cymdeithas members began distributing “WANTED” posters bearing the photos of the 4 defendants in the hope that members of the public will urge them to attend the trial. The trial will hear from witnesses who will testify that the Council’s so-called consultation process over the future of Village Schools such as Mynyddcerrig was completely fraudulent. The verdict, and possible sentence, will be eagerly anticipated.
