The new Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred Jones will attend a book launch at the Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg tent (906 -908) on the National Eisteddfod field at 1 o'clock on Monday August 4th. The book, 'Hawl i'r Gymraeg' (A Right to Use the Welsh Language) by Gwion Lewis one of the foremost legal minds of his generation discusses the linguistic rights of Welsh speakers in relation to European and international law.
His main argument is that no legislation will be adequate unless it fully recognises our right ro speak and use the Welsh language. His hope is that the book will strengthen the campaign for a new Welsh language Measure.Hywel Griffiths, Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg who will be taking part in the meeting along with former AM and MP, Cynog Dafis said:"This book should be essential reading for Alun Ffred Jones the new Heritage Minister since this is such a crucial time in the campaign for a New Welsh language Act."
