Cymdeithas yr Iaith will tell villagers, who are travelling to Caernarfon to hear Gwynedd Council debating the future of their school and community, that they have already won their victory and that the task tomorrow is to invite Gwynedd Councillors to be part of that victory. At 2pm tomorrow (Thursday 12th) Gwynedd Council will discuss finally the fate of Ysgol Y Parc near Bala, and parents and supporters are expected to gather outside the Council building at 1pm where Ffred Ffransis and Angharad Tomos will speak on behalf of Cymdeithas yr Iaith. Parents have decided that the children will not travel to Caernarfon as the potential closure of their village school is causing great distress, and the experience could be too much for them. Ffred Ffransis will tell the people of Parc at the meeting -"You have already won your victory through your loyalty to the school and to the community and the education of the children. For four long years, people have threatened to close the school, and yet you have never given up. You have not allowed any disappointment or threat to undermine your faith in the school and the future of your community, and your determination to remain loyal to them. In this you have victory, and it is a victory which no Council can take away from you. Indeed we are today inviting Gwynedd Council to be part of the victory by taking a decision to maintain and develop Ysgol Y Parc as part of the exciting new developments for the Bala area. Yours is not a victory over anyone, but rather a victory in which all are invited to play a part as you inspire all of us to campaign for the future of our Welsh-speaking communities."Previous article on cymdeithas.org "Gwynedd school: campaigner goes without water"Cambrian News Article - 12/05/2011
