News that Carmarthenshire Council's Labour Leader has voiced concerns about the lack of consideration of the Welsh language in the Welsh Government's Planning Bill has been welcomed by language campaigners.  Cllr Madge made the point in a letter to Planning Minister Carl Sargeant, the letter also includes calls for the adoption of a number recommendations of the county's cross-party Welsh language commission, created by the county council as part of their response to the Census results.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg members have welcomed Plaid Cymru's conference decision, held over the weekend in Llangollen, to scrap every Local Development Plan in Wales. An action committee has been established by the language campaign group in Gwynedd and Ynys Môn because of fears about the counties' plans to build eight thousand houses. Speaking on behalf of the group, Ben Gregory commented:

Please support the campaign by completing this form.   The history of Morrisons and the Welsh language goes back quite a way now. Cymdeithas members began discussions with the company about its delivery by the Welsh during the 00s, and although the conversation at that time was a very positive one, Morrisons abandoned the promises they made.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith has called on Carmarthenshire County Council to make public the correspondence between Leader of the Council, Kevin Madge and Carl Sargent, Welsh Government Minister with responsibility for planning.

The Dyffryn Teifi branch of Cymdeithas yr Iaith has sent a message to the First Minister to thank him for his interest in the Valley, but have called for action to save local services in order that young people can settle in the area.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has called on Wrecsam's council not to cut the finance to Welsh-medium playgroups. Mudiad Meithrin provides services including playgroups, baby and toddler groups, and childcare in Welsh throughout the county. The council wants to cut it's contribution of £23,000. Cymdeithas yr Iaith have written to the Welsh Language Commissioner asking for her opinion on the possibility that sending children to Welsh-medium playgroups is more costly than English-medium provision.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have made a request under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act for Carmarthenshire County Council to publish the minutes of a committee which was set up to advise on the promotion of the Welsh language in the county.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith has welcomed an interim statement issued today by Prof Graham Donadson which lists the basic principles for a new curriculum for Wales. Cymdeithas say that these principles reinforce the case for ensuring that the curriculum gives every pupil the basic educational skill of being able to communicate in both Welsh and English. In a letter to Education Minister Huw Lewis, Prof Donaldson, who was commissioned by the Government to draw up recommendations for a new curriculum for Wales. lists the basic principles which should underpin the curriculum.
