A Cardiff woman and her children refused to leave her car in a protest today (Tuesday 17th August) against the 'tokenistic' use of Welsh by south Wales police.35 year old Lleucu Meinir, from Llanmaes Street, Grangetown had refused to pay two parking tickets because of the lack of Welsh used by the police in Cardiff, who have sent English-only correspondence to her.

A new award scheme for companies who offer excellent Welsh language services will be launched by TV presenter Angharad Mair and members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg in Carmarthen today.The initiative is a new direction for the society which has traditionally focused on campaigning against large corporations who provide no or very few bilingual services.
