Welsh language protestors have targeted the constituency office of the UK Culture Secretary in protest against cuts to S4C and to merge the channel with the BBC today (Wednesday, 15th December). Three campaigners placed posters on Jeremy Hunt MP's office in Hindhead, Surrey.

Language campaign group Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has reacted to the Government's Welsh Language strategy. Ceri Phillips, from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) commented:"We welcome the government's honesty about the state of the language, particularly the focus on language use. But, although there are a number of good ideas in the strategy, we are concerned about the willingness of the civil services to implement the plans. The lack of definite targets is also a matter of concern.""Will the civil service continue to make English the language of the workplace?

Cymdeithas yr Iaith wish to thank the 16 Assembly Memebers who voted for the right of citizens to the Welsh language to be inserted in the Welsh language Measure. 16 AMs voted in favour, 32 voted against, with no abstentions.Rights were promised as part of the One Wales agreement.

Welsh language campaignes will hold a rally in Caernarfon today (Saturday, 4th December), against the proposed cuts to S4C, and the cuts in general, which they claim will damage community life in Wales.Speakers at the demonstration will include Arfon MP Hywel Williams, Silyn Roberts from UNISON, David Donovan technician's union BECTU, Hywel Roberts public sector union the PCS, Dafydd Iwan, singer Ceri Cunnington and Councillor Marc Jones from the group north Wales against the cuts.
