Welsh language campaigners have welcomed the comments of Lord Geoffrey Howe - Deputy Prime Minister, Chancellor and Foreign Secretary under Thatcher - who has spoken against the Government's plans for over 40% cuts to S4C and a BBC takeover of the channel.Lord Howe was speaking in the debate on the Public Bodies Bill today which would allow the plans to go through.

Two members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith were bailed by Cardiff magistrates court today following their appearance on a charge of burglary - breaking into the office of a Tory MP, which is shared by the local AM, with intention of painting a slogan on the wall calling for assurances for the future of S4C.

Two Welsh language campaigners have broken into and painted a slogan at a Tory MP and AM's Office in Cardiff during their party conference today (Sunday 6th March). Heledd Melangell Williams (from Nant Peris) and Jamie Bevan (from Merthyr) are now being questioned at a police station in Cardiff Bay.
