Trades unions have announced they'll be sponsoring an anti-cuts gig organised by Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) during the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham.Unions including the NUJ, BECTU, PCS, the Musicians Union, the Writers Guild, Unison Cymru and the RMT will take part in the event and are encouraging their members to come to the evening'

Language campaigners have called on councils to rethink their plans to close rural schools following a Welsh Government decision forcing local authorities to resubmit bids for new school buildings.Education Minister Leighton Andrews has announced changes to the 21st century schools programme meaning councils will have to find 50% of the capital cost themselves.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith proudly announce that they are orgaising a Loyal Tribute Gig to Prince William, his family and all the British Ruling Classes during the Royal National Eisteddfod week at Wrexham this year. Members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg have painted the slogan 'ACHUB S4C' (Save S4C) on the buildings of the BBC in White City, London to show their concern for the future of S4C the Welsh language television channel.

Two language campaigners were sentenced today in the first court case over Welsh language TV for 30 years. More than a hundred people came to Cardiff Magistrates' Court to show their support. Jamie Bevan was ordered to pay compensation of £1,020, costs of £120 and was placed under curfew for 28 days.

The first trial over the future Welsh TV channel S4C for thirty years will held this Thursday (7th July).It is alleged that two language campaigners, Jamie Bevan from Merthyr Tudful, and Heledd Melangell Williams from Nant Peris, broke into the office of Cardiff North MP Jonathan Evans, and painted a slogan on the wall of the building.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (Welsh Language Society) has called on AMs to reinstate Aled Roberts as an Assembly Member following the linguistic discrimination against him.The language group is asking for a formal apology from the Presiding Officer and Electoral Commission for his treatment and the delays in resolving the matter.
