Cymdeithas yr Iaith have called on the Education Minister, Leighton Andrews, to contact Flintshire County Council ahead of a crucial meeting tomorrow to advise them not to waste time and public money on developing a plan which would undermine Welsh-medium education.At 2.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday 17th August) the Council will be discussing proposals which would force Welsh-medium schools in Treffynnon (Holywell) and Treuddyn to enter into formal arrangements and share resources with nearby English-medium schools.

Language campaigners have called on Carmarthenshire's county councillors to immediately recall their local development plans amid increasing objections to the plans, which would mean building 11,600 new homes in the area.The controversial plans include the creation of over a thousand new homes on the western outskirts of Carmarthen.

Following the announcement that Carmarthen and Bangor are among the 66 locations throughout the countries of Britain where bids will be invited to provide local television, Cymdeithas yr Iaith has demanded that proper provision for Welsh language broadcasting should be written into the licenses from the start.Cymdeithas Chair in Carmarthenshire, Sioned Elin said:"We need to avoid the problems that were caused in local radio such as Radio Carmarthenshire, where the authorities were unable to insist upon an adequate level of Welsh language broadcasting.

It's time for the politicians to deliver a new S4C, that will be the message at a rally on the Eisteddfod field today (2pm, 4th August).Since the Government announced plans to cut their grant to the only Welsh language TV channel, tens of organisation, the leaders of the four main parties in Wales and Archbishop Barry Morgan have voiced their opposition.
