Despite the wintry weather, over people 500 from all parts of Carmarthenshire came to the County Hall in Carmarthen on Saturday January 19, 2013 to sign the Pledge "I want to Live in Welsh" and hear some of Carmarthenshire's prominent people saying why they were signing the pledge. Among them was film and TV actor Julian Lewis-Jones who said:

People from all over Carmarthenshire are expected to attend a rally held by Cymdeithas yr Iaith outside County Hall, Carmarthen on Saturday January 19th 2013 to voice their concerns about the dramatic decline in the numbers of Welsh speakers in the county and to demand a future for local Welsh-speaking communities.

Representatives of Welsh-speaking communities will gather in Aberystwyth Saturday (12th January) to discuss ways to sustain and rejuvenate the langauge in their local areas. To date, the “Cynghrair Cymunedau Cymraeg” - an alliance of Welsh speaking communites - has almost 20 areas signed up across Wales after just a few months. Some community council and town councils have joined, as well as co-operatives and community groups who have the specific aim of promoting the language at a community level.
