Today (Thursday 5th June), during the early hours of this morning, members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith in the Gwynedd-Môn Region went out to paint the slogan "Cadwn ein Hysgolion" (Save our Schools) on a wall in Caernarfon Town Centre. The purpose of this act was to send a clear and sincere message to Gwynedd Education Scrutiny Committee, which meets at 2.00pm, and reflects the widespread opposition of Gwynedd citizens to the Council's re-organisation plans.
Following the 2008 AGM of Cymdeithas, it was declared that our members and supporters should go out and paint political slogans throughout Wales.According to Dewi Snelson, Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith in Gwynedd-Môn:"It's fantastic to see the young members of Gwynedd and Môn taking the initiative. All members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith, throughout Wales, should go out to paint political slogans."Ffred Ffransis, Cymdeithas Education Group chair added:"We call on the Scrutiny committee to do away with the schools re-organisation plan rather than amending it. It must be abolished in order to regain trust, and to enable a discussion on the way forward for Gwynedd's village schools."
