Cymdeithas yr Iaith Inspectors will visit Morrisons store Carmarthen on Saturday 24/11/07 at 1pm to undertake an inspection of the premises as regards to the use of the Welsh language. Cymdeithas representatives met with Chris Blundell a member of the Executive Board of Morrisons dyddidadd to discuss and press for equal status for the Welsh language.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have sent an open letter to each memner of Gwynedd County Council asking them to reject (at next month's meeting) the controversial plan to re-organise schools as Council leaders have made a basic error over consultation procedures.

=It has become clear over the last week that the threat to village schools is not confined to Carmarthenshire, and that it is now become a national problem. School closure threats are now also affecting Anglesey and Gwynedd.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has written to the Equality and Human Rights Commision in Wales, to complain that the Commission has failed Welsh speakers by not ensuring that it has a bilingual web site.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have accused Carmarthenshire County Council of being profeteering vandals in response to the shock news that they wish to demolish Mynyddcerrig school which was only closed a month ago. The Council have applied for planning permission to develop 6 houses on the site.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have reminded Carmarthenshire County Council's Planning Committee that they will be discussing the proposed housing development at Waungilwen, Drefach Velindre with a clean sheet.

Leading members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith stepped up the campaign for the future of Welsh-medium Village Schools by taking over a school building in the early hours of this morning. The five broke into one of the buildings of Ysgol Mynyddcerrig – closed by Carmarthenshire County Council at the end of last term – and changed the lock.
