At 1 o' clock this afternoon Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg brought a 3 hour demonstration outside the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay to an end. The demonstrators were demanding that any Language Act agreed on as part of coalition discussions should be a full and comprehensive one.

Between 10am and 1pm today, members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg will launch a new period in their campaign for a new Welsh Language Act.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg received a very good response to the demonstrations organised today against Travel Agents Thomas Cook who had banned staff from speaking Welsh in the work place.

Between 1 and 2 o'clock today (Friday 15/06/07) Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg will stage a demonstration outside the premises of Thomas Cook in Bangor because of that company's policy of denying its workers the right to speak Welsh in the work-place. At the same time, smaller protests will be held outside the Thomas Cook shop in Queen Street, Cardiff and in Carmarthen.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith have declared themselves not impressed with the latest climb-down by Thomas Cook, and have vowed to continue with plans for a demo outside the Travel Company's Bangor shop at 1pm on Friday.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg has announced that it will give Thomas Cook, the travel agents that has banned its staff from speaking Welsh, three days to change its mind.

On Monday, June 11th, representatives from Cymdeithas yr Iaith will meet with the UK managers of the supermarket giant Morrisons at their headquarters in Manchester. They will discuss Cymdeithas yr Iaith’s calls for Morrisons to develop a nationwide strategy for Wales to provide goods and services through the medium of Welsh.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith expect the travel firm Thomas Cook to very quickly reverse its stand on staff using Welsh during their work. If they do not back down, a major protest will be held at their Bangor shop at 1pm on Friday (15/06).

Representatives from a number of Welsh organisations met on the Urdd Eisteddfod field in Carmarthen last Thursday to discuss ways in which they could co-operate in the campaign for a new Welsh Language Act and how to put further pressure on the Welsh Assembly Government on this matter.

Urdd Gobaith Cymru calls for a review of The Welsh Language Act. The aim of Urdd Gobaith Cymru is to ensure that all the young people of Wales are given the opportunity, through the medium of the Welsh language, to develop into mature individuals, and to empower them to play a constructive role in the community, by encouraging personal and social skills.
