At 12.30pm today (Saturday 14/10), around a 100 members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) marched to the new ‘Ystwyth Retail Park’ site in Aberystwyth, in order to hold a Protest Rally.

Morrisons have agreed to consider the possibility of implimenting a seven point plan to make full use of the Welsh language in their stores. The Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg deputation that met Morrisons officials in Baradford today pressed the company to pre-empt a New Welsh Language Act by making a full comitment to Wales and the Welsh language now.

The Welsh Language Society Entertainment Team will launch their latest gig project towards the end of November as the first ever ‘Taith Tafod’ tour is held.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith (The Welsh Language Society) kept their promise that Carmarthenshire County Council's Executive Board would not be allowed to steamroller the closure notice for Ysgol Mynyddcerrig without opposition. The Executive Board is due to meet in a public session at 10am to rubber stamp the officers' recommendation to issue a closure notice.

Following consultation with developers 'Eatonfield Group' and Carmarthenshire County Council, Cymdeithas yr Iaith has revealed that the building of 50 houses in the small Teifi Valley village of Pont-Tyweli could start as early as next Easter.

Iestyn ap Rhobert (27 from Llangadog) received a fine of £200 at Carmarthen Magistrates Court today, but he was not forced to pay compensation to the private company representing Debenhams.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, who have spent the last two weeks collecting signatures on their New Welsh language Act petition throughout Wales, will end the current phase of their campaign in Cardigan tomorrow (Saturday) .

In a public meeting that will be held at 2pm today at the Societies Tent on the National Eisteddfod Field, Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg (The Welsh Language Society) will outline a draft of a New Welsh Language Act. This will mark a further development in the growing debate regarding the need for stronger language legislation.

On Wednesday the second of August at 10.a.m, Angharad Elen Blythe will appear in Cardiff Magistrates’ Court. She will be the last member of Cymdeithas to face a court appearance following a period of direct action against the Assembly Government in 2005 calling for a New Welsh Language Act.

Thursday night at the National Eisteddfod in Swansea will see a celebration of Welsh hip-hop music as revolutionary band, Llwybr Llaethog, perform a special set in Barons nightclub to celebrate 20 years since they released the first Welsh rap material.
