Ahead of the Tynged yr Iaith yn Sir Gâr (“Fate of the Language in Carmarthenshire”) meeting this Saturday (17th of January) a number of people have agreed to join us in keeping an eye on the work of Carmarthenshire County Council.
Among the individuals who have committed to the work, ranging from reading council minutes and publications to attending the council's meetings are a number of well-known people who live and work locally - actors such as Rhian Morgan and Dewi Williams; broadcasters Iola Wyn and Heledd Cynwal, and the Reverend Beti Wyn James.
Sioned Elin chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith in Carmarthenshire said:
"The campaigning work of members and supporters of Cymdeithas yr Iaith has resulted in establishing a task and finish group, and the council accepting and adopting the recommendations of the Working Group, and putting an Action Plan in place to implement those recommendations. But there is still work to be done to ensure that this progress continues and is built upon in order to strengthen the Welsh language and communities in Carmarthenshire, so we ask everyone to join us to keep a 'llygad barcud' (close eye) on the county council by attending the meeting on Saturday! "
