Let us keep a close eye

As an Advisory Panel on the Welsh language in Carmathenshire is set to meet on Monday 6th of October Cymdeithas yr Iaith has called for future meetings to be public meetings.

The Advisory Panel has taken the role of the Working Group set up by the council to look at the Welsh language in Carmarthenshire. In April this year the council adopted the Working Group's recommendations.

Sioned Elin, Chair of Cymdeithas yr Iaith in Carmarthenshire said:

The Advisory Panel's meetings should be public, like the council's other committees, and all meeting minutes should be on their website in order for us all to see what's going on. We have said that we intend to keep an eagle-eye on the council over the coming months, leading to a public meeting we intent to hold in Carmarthen on January the 17th. In this meeting people across the county will have their say on whether the council are implementing the recommendations of the Working Group; and whether they are taking the Welsh language seriously.”
