A woman from Ceredigion says she is going to continue to refuse to pay a court penalty she received as part of a campaign to gain broadcasting powers for Wales, despite bailiffs calling at her house just a few weeks ago.

According to information received by a language group, the new Welsh Language Commissioner refused to investigate over seventy per cent of complaints relating to the lack of Welsh language services received during his first month in the post – the highest percentage of refusals since the Standards came into force.

A new body to oversee broadcasting in Wales, to replace the present UK regulator, will be launched at a meeting in Carmarthenshire today (Monday, 24th June). The announcement about the creation of a shadow communications body for Wales follows a series of controversial decisions by the existing regulator, Ofcom, which, according to the founders of the new body, is ‘undermining Wales and the Welsh language’s place in the media’.
