Am y tro cyntaf ers sefydlu'r Cyngor ym 1996, bu cyfarfod heddiw rhwng arweinwyr Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin a Chymdeithas yr Iaith. Cynhaliwyd y cyfarfod yn dilyn cyhoeddi ffigurau'r Cyfrifiad a ddangosodd mai yn Sir Gâr y bu'r cwymp gwaethaf yng Nghymru o ran siaradwyr Cymraeg.

Ar ddydd Mercher 26ain o Fehefin, bydd Cymdeithas yr Iaith yn rhoi galwadau i gryfhau'r Gymraeg gerbon Cyngor Sir Gaerfyrddin wrth iddynt lansio Siarter Sir Gâr.

Dywedodd Heledd ap Gwynfor, aelod o Gymdeithas yr Iaith yn Sir Gaerfyrddin:

Launch of Siarter Sir Gâr language charter

Cymdeithas yr Iaith in Carmarthenshire will put demands to the county council to act to strengthen the Welsh language in the county, on Wednesday 26th June, as they launch their laungage charter, Siarter Sir Gâr.

The charter, which covers housing and planning, education, health, leisure and the
use of Welsh within the County Council puts forward radical, but practical, steps the Council can adopt.
